The truth about the Fast and Furious scandal continues to come out.

Rush Limbaugh has been covering this for a while, and is keeping his listeners updated. It seems that the object of this operation was to create a gun problem in Mexico that could be linked to the U.S.A. gun market. This would create a grand excuse to increase the control and restriction of firearm sale and ownership in the U.S.A. and further erosion of the Second Amendment.

Of course there was also a cover-up that included perjury across the Justice Department as they lied to Congress.

Rush Limbaugh’s comments are below. Fast and Furious comments begin around 7:18.

Mainstream media has been covering this on occasion, and Sharyl Attkisson at CBS News has been leading the way. Recent CBS News stories are here, and here.
An interesting report on Jaime Zapata below:

Fortunately this program has been exposed for what it is–another attempt at gun control. These leaders are smart enough to not make an open attempt similar to the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994. Unfortunately it has cost many American and Mexican lives, and will continue on that path. These firearms have not been recovered, and are still in the possession of the criminal gangs based in Mexico.

Interview with Sharyl Attkisson on C-SPAN. There are some very telling points here:

Wolf ammo is made with a steel case with a polymer coating. The debated question asks about what this ammunition arrangement does to the firearm that is shooting it.

Youtube user Sturmgewehre makes the case that Wolf ammunition works fine, especially in his AR-15. He is very experienced with this ammo and firearms in general. This is a great video.

Wolf ammunition is inexpensive and affordable as a practice round. As explained in the video, its’ use should be limited in use with indoor firing ranges. Sparks from the metal bullet core can cause problems due to the presence of gunpowder.

He has a wide range of tastes, including rifles, shotguns, and semi-automatic pistols. The video includes a Glock 19, Glock 22, Ruger 10/22, Mossberg 590, three AR-15′s.

It is very funny and very entertaining.

Gun Free Zones (Pistol Free Zones) are supposed to be safe, right? No guns are allowed, so there must be safe places to be. Many places have been made to be Gun Free Zones, including schools, universities, post offices, churches, courthouses, playgrounds, hospitals, airports, alcohol-serving establishments, etc. Some expected all gun crimes at these types of locations to stop. Unfortunately, the only persons following these laws are the good guy sides of the equation. Criminals are lawbreakers by definition, and a little gun free zone law does not stop them.

I found two great videos demonstrating this, one humorous, one more serious and informative. Both are from Fox News.

The funny:

The serious:

This second video also demonstrates my point about the crazy logic of the Brady Campaign about the Terror Watch List at the end.

This all comes back to preserving the right of the law-abiding current and future citizens to defend themselves. Criminals have no respect for laws and will not abide by the cute little “Gun Free Zone” sign. Some simple-minded folks are soothed by the notion of a nice little sign and laws to go with it. Those upstanding non-criminal citizens that wish to defend themselves are not allowed to do so.

Chipping away at the Second Amendment.

The peaceful Washington demonstration did not included guns, as the rules are very strict in the District of Columbia. It did feature many good citizens that care deeply about their rights and freedoms. It did receive lots of positive media coverage, and some that was not so flattering.

Youtube user NoGuff posted a great video demonstrating the flavor of the Washington event for those of us that could not be there. Thanks to NoGuff for his work.

I recently met Skip Coryell who is involved with the organizing of the Second Amendment March. This is a peaceful protest that is being planned for Washington D.C. for April 19, 2010. This is Patriot’s Day, which recognizes the first battles of the Revolutionary War.

From the Second Amendment March website:

“The mission of the Second Amendment March is to galvanize the courage and resolve of Americans; to petition our elected officials against establishing anti-gun legislation; and to remind America that the Second Amendment is necessary to maintain our right to self defense.

It is the one right that protects all others.

We will accomplish our mission by a peaceful march in Washington DC, the United States Capitol, supported by satellite marches to State Capitols and smaller cities all across America.”

Most gun loving Americans are not used to being a part of organized protests, but this is one that needs to happen to preserve our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms. The first amendment is the Freedom of Speech and peaceful assembly. The second one is the right to keep and bear arms. It can be offered that the second amendment protects the first by giving the population the means to defend democracy from all that try to steal it. From forces outside and inside the country.

There are many things that can be done to support the Second Amendment March. Participation is the most obvious, but basic awareness is a good place where we all can start. Financial contributions are also a big part of this expensive event. Volunteers donating their time and talent are also welcome. Visit their site for more information.

Here in the United States, the right to “Keep and Bear Arms” is an American tradition that is guaranteed in the Bill of Rights. These rights have been defended for since the founding of the USA.

Education of uninformed Americans is important. Whether they are city dwellers that do not hunt, or youngsters that haven’t studied the Declaration of Independence, people need to be informed about firearms and the American right to keep and use them.

Different states and regions have different laws and rules about guns. Even localities can restrict the use and carry of loaded firearms. The states retain their rights to have their own rules and laws. The Constitution was designed that way. The Constitutional Framers did not mean for the federal government to have control over these gun rights. The states are supposed to be independent and set their own rules and regulations for gun ownership and carry. This can prove frustrating when considering the interstate reciprocity laws, but it allows for the citizens of the states to control their own outcome.
