U.S. Marine’s Letter to Senator Feinstein

U.S. Marine’s Letter to Senator Feinstein

U.S. Marine Joshua Boston recently made headlines by sending a letter to California Senator Dianne Feinstein, respectfully stating that he would not submit a list of his weapons to the United States government.

The letter:

Senator Dianne Feinstein,

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime. You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.

I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.
I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.

I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.

We, the people, deserve better than you.

Respectfully Submitted,
Joshua Boston
Cpl, United States Marine Corps
2004-2012

While many people may have lauded his efforts, it is saddening that this soldier even had to make such a declaration. Marines have 11 standing orders. They are highly trained in all manner of weapons and situations. They are probably the least of our culture’s concerns as far as personal safety goes, and yet they are treated no better than common criminals, unfit to handle the very tools that are their livelihood?

Gun Control advocates have told them, in effect, is that these brave servicemen and women are no more responsible with guns than the saggy-pants bum who spends all his time playing video games such as “Call of Duty.” This is disrespectful, and it is appalling that more citizens are not more outraged on behalf of this young veteran.

This young man is feeling that he has to answer to a woman who has been petitioned by the people for treason, by reason of her strong “anti-Constitution” views. This is the woman who has made it her personal mission to take weapons away from not only the citizens, but the defenders of this country. It forces the question: what is her personal agenda?

There is a distressing lack of well-reasoned, well-spoken defenders of liberty in this country. It is admirable what Joshua Boston has done, but the fact he felt it necessary to do so is a mark of shame on our inactivity to defend our own rights.
